Just like the present tense section, I found this lesson to be very straightforward and relatable to my past Spanish linguistics courses. I think the most important material to take away from these lessons deals with the usages of each distinct verb form. These aspects of verbs can easily be mixed up between different languages, especially Slavic languages and many Asian languages. Given that Slavic languages like Russian tend to only have 3 verb forms (past, present, future), trying to understand four distinct aspects of each of these 3 verb tenses could definitely prove challenging, on top of trying to learn how to use definite and indefinite articles which are also not present in the Russian language. It is crucial to stress these concepts to students because, although they seem incredibly familiar to us and perhaps even inherent to language itself, they may prove to be completely alien to foreign English learners.
