The content of this unit covered modals, phrasal verbs, and the passive voice. Modals are used to express obligation, probability, permission, ability, and advice. They are also used to express formality. Always followed by a base form verb they help add context to the verb. The passive voice is used when the actions doer is not important and is formulated by using the correct form of the verb to be alongside a past participle. Relative clauses are dependent clauses that modify a noun within a sentence. This unit has taught me how to properly explain the concepts provided and clarified the purposes of modal verbs and phrasal verbs.
