This unit discusses pronunciation and phonology of the English method and methods for teaching it. Phonology is the study, science, analysis, and classification of the physical properties of sound; this includes stress, rhythm, and intonation. Teachers can emphasize and teach intonation by using nonsense words to convey attitude or even gesturing. Teachers can also use their own mouth or other visuals to help students with pronunciation or individual sounds.
