In this unit we learned about Pronunciation and Phonology. We talked about the importance of Intonation in conveying the meaning of our sentences. It delivers the message. Intonation is the difference, the variation between volume and pitch in a sentence, such as the difference between asking a question and making a statement. A question is usually ended with a rise in pitch and volume while a statement would normally end with a fall in pitch and volume. We discussed syllables and stress points. It's easy to see why English pronunciation can be difficult. We have so many different pronunciations for the same letters and grouping of letters, bothe vowels and consonants and words such as read/read/red, here/there ect. The poem on page 12 was an excellent example of this. I think I will use this in teaching any advanced English classes.
