This chapter explained in great detail the best way to plan lessons. Although you should always have a lesson plan, it is important to be flexible and have back up ideas as well depending on how the students are doing. I learned that lesson plans are a good way to document what has already been taught and keep track of what activities have already been done. I also learned what components to include in a lesson plan, what one is to get out of the lesson plan (both student and teacher) and ways to break down lesson plans into procedure, phase, timing, and interaction. It referred back to the ESA teaching styles as well and when/how to incorporate different teaching methods. It also gave a detailed example of lesson plans and what areas of grammar, vocabulary, and sentence formation to focus on in activities, worksheets, board work etc. The unit also covered how to monitor students and benefits to monitoring students.
