In Unit 4, I learned the present tense system and the different forms, usages, common errors, and activities.
First, we discussed the Present Simple form which is used when speaking about habitual or routine actions. For example, "He goes fishing every week. permanent situations or facts, commentaries, etc. Activities in the activate stage can include questionnaires, guess my profession, a day in the life of, etc.
Next is the present continuous form made with the present simple tense of auxiliary verb "to be"and present participle (verb + ing) of the main verb.
This form is used to speak about an action that is still occurring at the time of speaking, to emphasize frequent actions, to describe developing situations, etc.
Activate teaching ideas include Pictionary, time zones, continuous brainstorming, etc.
Next, the present perfect form relates the past to the present. This form is used when speaking about an experience without specific detail, completed past actions carried out in an unfinished time period at the time of speaking, etc. Activities include role-plays, changing of the room to guess what is missing, and asking students what they did today.
Lastly, the Present Perfect Continuous form relates past activities to present. Either the activity may continue in the future, or the activity was happening for some length of time or both. It is used when we want to communicate an incomplete or ongoing activity and long long it has continued or to describe a recently finished, uninterrupted activity with a present result.
