The importance of lesson planning: In Unit 9, we learn about lesson planning. It is clear that there are advantages to lesson planning. I will briefly discuss: a) the function of writing a lesson plan. b) the points on writing a lesson plan. The function of writing a lesson plan. Writing lesson plan allows the teacher to decide on an objective for the lesson, as well as, the steps on how to achieve the objective. Points on writing a lesson plan. In Unit9: Lesson Planning, we also learn that lesson plan should a) be kept simple; b) be consistent in structure; c) include the length of time for each activity; d) include a variety of activities which focus on various skills; and e) be flexible so that the teacher may make adjustments when necessary. Conclusion: From studying Unit 9: Lesson planning, it is clear that lesson planning may help teachers stay organized and be well prepared for their lessons. I have learnt how one should go about writing a lesson plan, as well as, what one should consider when planning a lesson (lesson objectives, classroom activities, materials, number of students, etc.) I’ve also learnt which questions one should ask oneself when evaluating one’s lesson.
