This unit focused on the concepts of pronunciation and phonology. While pronunciation is how words are said correctly, phonology focuses on the physical properties of sound. This can be seen through stress, rhythm, and intonation. Of those three, I learned the most about how to effectively teach intonation. As a native speaker, intonation is something that I take for granted when speaking with other native speakers and don't always necessarily listen for. I am glad that the beginning of this lesson took the time to show why that is harmful for teachers to assume the students won't use certain phonetic techniques just because we are not as knowledgable about how to teach them.
