In Unit One, we’ve learned the qualities, roles and responsibilities of the teachers as well as the students. How to be a good teacher? The first and most important is that the teacher cares more about the students. Second, the teacher should care about their personalities, the relationships with students, and the teaching skills. During a lesson a teacher may play some roles such as manager (controller), organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, resource (facilitator), model and obverse (monitor). Which role and when to take depend on the aim of the lesson, the type of the activity and the control of the course according to the experience and ability of the teacher. How to be a good student? There’re lots of factors which will affect the students as follows: age, learning experience, motivation, nervousness, language awareness, behavior problems, life experience, culture and first language and language level. I think the motivation plays the most important role, because the students with motivations can overcome difficulties and be more likely to succeed. Teachers and students interact with each other in the process of teaching and learning. Teachers who are enthusiastic, sensitive, motivated and caring are more likely to teach successful students. Just as an old Chinese saying “Strict masters produce outstanding students”, good teachers always teach excellent students.
