Out of all the grammar lessons in this course, this one was undoubtedly the most complicated in my opinion. However, past language experience and courses in linguistics have rendered me quite familiar with all of these concepts, such as independent/dependent clauses, the passive voice (which is much more common in English than in Romance languages like Spanish and Italian), and phrasal verbs. I like the way phrasal verbs were presented as it is clearly a very difficult part of language to comprehend since they are basically collocations with no alternative. They have to be said with the correct particle(s) every time otherwise they may change in meaning. I agree with the advice of mentioning these phrasal verbs in clause but aiming to teach them primarily through exposure and repetition by the teacher and, eventually, the students as well. There is no better practice than listening in my opinion. I speak more 6 languages at an intermediate-advanced level and I can attest that the best way to absorb language is to listen, listen, listen. We must listen everyday during our "dead time" in which we are not being productive. Every word and phrase we hear will be dug into our minds more and more each time and I feel like this should be stressed more in language courses and TESOL lessons.
