Language presentation and giving instructions generally requires the teacher to stand. the teacher should move fluidly throughout the room during the activate stage, controlled practice and checking work progress. It is acceptable for the teacher to sit during reading activities. When writing on the board a teacher should be aware to not have their back to students for a longer period of time. Giving individual attention allows the teacher to help students who are having difficulty in class, include all students equally and to help build a learner's confidence. Teacher Talking Time (TTT) should be limited to presenting, checking, modeling or clarifying. In addition, it can also be used to provide language input, giving instructions, setting up activities and establishing rapport. When giving instructions, teachers should use simple language, be consistent, use verbal cues and check to make sure instructions are understood. Establishing good rapport helps to determine if a class is successful nd enjoyable. The attitude of the teacher during the is key. Maintaining discipline is important to keep control of a class. problem behavior can be the result of family problems, low self esteem, boredom, pee pressure, lack of respect for the teacher/other students and class size. Preventing problem behavior is helped when the teacher behaves professionally, never loses their temper, is fair/consistent, and show respect for the students by establishing rapport. Teachers should respond tp problem behavior by acting immediately, remains calm and focusing on the behavior rather than the student.
