This unit was a good refresher about teaching general reading skills. I reviewed many of the skills such as skimming, scanning, and predicting. These are all good skills to teach students to teach them different ways to approach a text.
I did learn something new in the section about pre-teaching difficult vocabulary. I have always felt overwhelmed about teaching students vocabulary because there are so many words to go over and there many students struggle with reading when it comes to the hard words. However, by going over the words first, they will be able to comprehend the reading material better.
