In unit 4, it introduces four present tenses:
Present Simple: used for habitual or routine actions. permanent situations and facts, commentaries, newspaper headlines, directions, present stories, and historical sequence.
Affirmative form example: I read everyday.
Negative form example: They don't work on weekends.
Question form example: Do you like fishing?
Present Continuous: used to talk about an action that is in progress at the time of speaking, to emphasize very frequent actions, to describe developing situations,ect.
Affirmative form example:He is watching TV now.
Negative form example: She is not paying attention to the class.
Question form example: Are you listening to me?
Present Perfect: used when we talk about finished actions or states that happened at an indefinite time, when we talk about something which began in the pst and is still true now, at the time of speaking, when we discribe past actions with present results.
Affirmative form example: I have finished my dinner.
Negative form example: She hasn't finished her homework.
Question form example: Have you ever been to New York?
Present Perfect Continuous: used to communicate an incomplete and ongoing activity, to describe a recently finished, uninterrupted activity which has a present result.
Affirmative form example: I have been waiting here for hours.
Negative form example: She hasn't been teaching for months.
Question form example: How long have you been living in China?
