The first unit introduced roles of teachers and students by outlining ways we teach, learn and evaluate. I appreciated the part that discussed the different ways that children and adults learn and feel motivated, as I feel its important to acknowledge that adults may be motivated to learn for career choices and finding ways that they can be successful is different than children, who are motivated by more intrinsic factors, like playing games and having fun. I think that both students and teachers have a role in the learning process and as a teacher, finding flexibility in your role can bring out better learners in your students. These roles overlap: you must be able to control the classroom, assess, and prompt involvement, while acting as a role model.
