In unit 11 we covered teaching receptive skills. The two receptive skills are listening and reading. I believe both are equally as important to eachother because of the strength of one only increases the strength of another. We listen and read to understand how to operate technology, reading a novel versus reading school work. There is receptive skills broken down into two categories for a purpose and for entertainment. When teaching english it is important to pick out texts that are appropriate for the level of student. It is also important to present them with pre vocabulary so they understand all the information put in front of them.
