This unit covers tests and their various applications. I don't know if I learned something new in this course, except that there are a LOT of different tests and testing institutions. Like, so many acronyms. Wow.
Anyway, I studied Deaf Education at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and my teachers there did NOT like tests. At least, they didn't like standardized tests, and I can appreciate their criticisms. Yes, tests often teach students to memorize certain things only to forget them once the tests are turned in, but I like tests. I don't know how better to assess a student's progress. I think progress and practice tests are extremely useful, not only for the teacher, but also the students. I don't think tests should be the singular deciding factor in a student's final grade, but that's a different subject entirely.
