Evaluation and testing are viewed as prominent components within the procedure of teaching a foreign language. Assessing students’ levels and outputs is of great importance. It is critically used to classify students on their righteous level. Then, diagnostic test is a sort of test given to students at the commencement of a course. At this point, teachers evaluate students’ level with the aim of preparing suitable materials and activities related to students’ level. Additionally, periodic progress test is type of test often used to measure the process of students throughout the course. Periodic progress is inevitable for it provides teachers general knowledge regarding the progression of students on the language points covered. Furthermore, achievement test, as the title suggests, is used at the end of the course to assess what students have digested throughout the course. Lastly, practice test is referred to external examination exams for specific purposes. These include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, and the like.
