Future system is one of the most complicated and challenging tense. Future tenses are commonly known as misleading and ambiguous for EFL learners. Similarly to present and past system, future includes a variety of tenses each of which varies depending on the context and situation being engaged. These future tenses contain future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, be going to, present simple and present continuous future forms. Initially, future simple is a tense generally used to express an action and/or event to be happened in the future. It is distinguished from other tenses in the way that it is used with facts, threats, assumptions, predictions and unplanned spontaneous decisions. Secondly, future continuous is a tense that is basically used with a progressive action occurring at definite time in the future. Future continuous tense also has several usages which range from expressing prediction about what someone is doing at the moment, requesting polite enquiries about other people’s plans to talking about regularly fixed events. Thirdly, and unlike other future tenses, future perfect tense has one-sided usage. It is often involved when people refer to an action and/or situation to be finished or accomplished in a specific time in the future. Similarly, future perfect continuous also encompasses one major usage. It is used with the duration of a particular action, event or situation. It emphasis on how a progressive action will be taking place. For instance, I will have been working at AKD for one year, is an exemplary of future perfect continuous form and usage simultaneously. Fourthly, ‘Going to’ future is deemed as a future tense and is mostly associated to an already planned decision. Learners can refer to ‘going to’ future form when expressing intention and prediction based on present evidence. Fifthly, Present simple is a future tense that is mostly referred to when tackling future scheduled events or actions. It can also be used when formal situation, such as information or news, being involved. Finally, present continuous is also another future tense. Its usages are twofold: a-precise appointment and/or arrangement; b-timeless plans and decisions. In effect, I believe the future tenses’ usages and forms indicated in this unit are helpful for EFL teachers to conduct grammar future tenses in their classes. It is of worthy since it embraces all necessary information related to the explanation of the system of future tenses.
