In Unit 6, I learned about different forms of the past tense. Firstly, the past simple form is easy to construct. You just have to take the verb and add "ed" to the end of it. For example, "work" would change to "worked". However, for irregular verbs, you have to change the word almost entirely. The word "see" would change to "saw" and the word "buy" would change to "bought". Next I learned about Past continuous. This structure often includes "was" or "were", followed by a verb + ing. After this, I learned about the past perfect and least perfect continuous structures. These forms often include "had" and "had been".
