In Unit 17 I was presented with many kinds of teaching equipment and their appropriate uses. Various forms of media such as cassettes, overhead projection, DVDs, CDs, course books and many more were introduced. I learned the basic principles for using these and how to prepare the media ahead of time and make sure everything is in good working order so that I don't find out when the lesson has already begun, which would waste the time of the class and appear unprofessional.
I learned the advantages and disadvantages of each media type, and that I can even create my own materials for use in the lessons. I was given a limited list of resource books which will provide games, activities, discussions, and much more and these should be useful for each stage of an ESA lesson.
In addition to physical books, I was provided with an impressive and extensive list of links for online websites, dictionaries, forums, example lessons, grammar resources, news media, teacher-related support groups and materials, and so much more. This is heartening and I believe I will find these invaluable.
