We have students of different age, learning background, ability, interests and with the different level of knowledge. All of them have different reasons for learning a foreign language. All those students have one thing in common and that is a teacher. Teacher's role is critical as he/she is the one who will facilitate the learning process. If we want to maximize students' progress teacher should be patient at all times, being able to recognize difficulties that certain students have, to find a way to make lessons as interesting as possible, to be able to switch from teacher centered class to student centered and sometimes only be a monitor who will encourage students work. One of the most important things that teacher must differentiate are individual students' needs. For example very young learners like to learn through games while teenagers need topics to which they can relate and are interested in. Teacher's task is to create such learning environment so the students would be interested in learning. In the end we have adults who have more experience in learning and are usually highly motivated to learn. Sometimes they just need proper guidance and encouragement where the teacher should point out the progress they made in order to keep up the level of motivation they have. As there will always be students who are level or two below their peers the teacher needs to be a "bridge" and provide tutoring support in order help those students and try to involve them more in regular classes. Combining different techniques and methods teacher should create a learning environment that will help students to overcome their shyness, fear of speaking etc. and that would lead to easier and faster progress of students. Students of a teacher who is well aware of all the things mentioned above will strive to success, achieving goals one by one. And is there any better reward for a teacher than seeing his students happy and being successful while striving towards their goals.
