From this chapter, I have learnt how to manage a class in various different ways. Firstly the behavior and gestures of a teacher such as making eye contact equally among all students and using correct gestures to explain and teach. Next is to group students for activities. There are a few types of grouping ways such as pair work, individual work and whole class grouping and for each activities carried out, the teacher should consider a few factors such as how much the teacher wants to be dominant for the activity to group the students. Following grouping is classroom arrangement. A teacher should arrange the class based on different factors such as the size of the class or the space available to ensure the best environment for the students to study. A teacher should also give each student individual attention to ensure they are paying attention as well as to ensure each student gets the chance to talk. Next, in class when giving instructions a teacher should use simple language and choosing the proper words for the level such as to prevent the talking time of the teacher to be excessively long and to ensure no confusion occurs among the students. Lastly, regarding the discipline of the class, when the teacher is aware of any problem behavior, the teacher should be able to act immediately to resolve the situation in the correct manner such as asking the student to stay back after class to talk about the situation etc.
