From this unit I have learned how to deal with different problems and difficulties in the classroom. Although teachers work on managing their classes they still might encounter different problems regarding students’ motivation, English knowledge levels, class size, listening comprehension and so on. On the first lesson with the new group of students it is important to establish a good rapport, find out about the students, their interests and learning experiences. To get students focused and ready for the class teachers can use games such as Hangman, Pictionary and other memory games. To maximize the number of students participating in the large classes teachers should use worksheets, a lot of pair and group work, choral drills. If students are of different English levels, there are many approaches on how to deal with that, however it might be effective to mix them up. To help students to overcome difficulties regarding listening tasks teachers can try to pre-teach potentially difficult vocabulary, make sure that the tape is of a good quality and prepare extra exercises for those students who finished listening tasks faster than others.
