This Unit has clarified some of the current methodologies that are being followed in classroom teaching. Each methodology has its own merits, but the clear stand out is the ESA method, which balances teacher-centric instruction with student-led discussions, and also makes space for a concerted 'Study' phase where the actual language learning is imparted systematically and with precision, so that the language concepts are ingrained into the students. The preceding stage of Engaging sets the tone and piques the student's curiosity for the lesson, while the following Activation stage leads to further reinforcement of learning through a vast variety of student-led communication exercises. This unit also tells us how critical feedback and correction are to the entire learning process, and when and how they should be imparted.
