In my opinion Lesson planning is essential for teachers since lesson plans provide an organized basis for teachers to refer to during the lesson so that they may teach in a structured manner. By keeping their thoughts and plans organized, the teacher can think logically through the stages in relation to available time needed for each activity. It keeps the teacher focused and on target on the main objective. Also, it helps the teacher efficiently use all of his/her allotted time. If a teacher is fully ready and prepare for most of the unseen circumstances, there would no time wasted in improvising on what to do next.
Additionally, preparation would allow the teacher to monitor the class easier and better themselves as instructors. As teachers, we should always be striving to improve our skills and make classes as stimulating and educational as possible. The quality of learning would be higher when the instructor actually has everything planned out for class and appears to know what he/she is doing. Students respect a teacher more when he/she seems more competent.
Lastly, lesson plans provide a record of what we taught and what we need to teach still. They allow us to see the amount of progress from the students and the areas of improvement needed. Also, if another teacher has to substitute for you, it will facilitate that teacher’s job. The substitute can know where you left off and what needs to be covered.
