After studying this unit, I have learnt about the qualities of a good teacher and a good learner. From the unit's content I have learnt that a good teacher does not only teach but should also be a motivator and a model for the students so that the students may have more interest in learning the language as well as motivation in participating in class activities which may help the students in improving. It is know that as a teacher, there are roles that the teacher should take in different situations while teaching students. For example, a teacher should be a prompter to encourage the students in their work. Afterwords, the teacher should take the role as an assessor to assess the work of the students and provide further guidance. I learnt that it is important for a teacher to take on suitable roles in suitable situation for the students to improve.
Secondly, in my opinion a good learner should always have an interest in studying. With the desire to learn, a good learner will always have the initiative in the lessons and will also prompt them into asking more questions and communicate more with the class and the teachers. I have also learnt about the few types of learners based on their ages and also the language levels of students.
Lastly, I have come to understand the motivations of the students to learn English such as for travel purposes and for their future careers. In my opinion, motivation is important to a student as without a motivation and purpose, a student will not have an interest in their studies.
