Teaching productive skills, speaking and writing, is equally important as teaching receptive skills. Writing is sometimes neglected and it can also present some difficulties to students - such as difficulties involved with writing the letters of the alphabet (especially if students ‘ mother tongue uses different writing system) and of course, difficulties with spelling. Students usually think that spelling is a complex area and usually a number of spelling mistakes is inevitable in the learning process. When it comes to teaching speaking, there are two kinds of speaking activities: activities that focus on accuracy and activities that focus on fluency. As with all other aspects of teaching, both accuracy and fluency activities should be incorporated in a balanced way. Another thing that is very useful for learning and practicing productive skills is the usage of different kinds of games in the EFL classroom. Apart from being fun, both competitive and co-operative games provide excellent learning opportunities and should definitely be an integral part of the syllabus.
