This unit talks generally about the different parts of speech. Here, the different parts of speech that exist in English are listed and defined with examples for easy mastery. Examples are;- Nouns, adjectives, pronouns and many others. This unit also treats the difference between a possessive pronoun and a possessive adjective. It also treats the formation of the past simple, past participle and present participle forms of regular verbs. This unit has again, richly explained the formation of adverbs and their positions in a sentence.
As for the lessons i have drawn from this unit, there are so many as seen in the paragraphs below;
After reading this unit, i have greatly improve my knowledge on parts of speech. For example, before now, i had no idea on the definition of gerunds.My knowledge on gerunds was superficial but, through this unit, i now know the definition of gerunds and how to construct sentences using them.
Also, this unit has taught me how to place an adverb correctly in a sentence without confusion.
Furthermore, this unit has helped me to master the differences between possessive pronouns and possessive adjectives. I have also mastered the difference between a transitive verb and an intransitive verb.
To conclude, the things i have learnt in this unit are innumerable. I fill richer in English language day by day as i read the notes.
