Teaching grammar can be a challenge both for teachers and students and students don’t usually look forward to grammar lessons. However, grammar is a very important aspect of teaching a foreign language and it is necessary for achieving accuracy in language production. In order to successfully teach grammar lessons to students the teacher must first be familiar with grammar units and grammar terminology himself/herself. The teacher must possess deep understanding of grammatical structures as well as grammar usage so that he/she can choose the most appropriate way to present those grammar units to students. First of all, the teacher must be able to differentiate between different parts of speech: nouns, pronouns, gerunds, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions and prepositions; second he/she should be able to provide explanations regarding form and function of those parts of speech and finally to provide relevant examples in context. When teaching grammar teacher must take into consideration the language level of the student, so that the grammar units are presented in an appropriate order. Using different methods and implementing various, interesting activities, the teacher can create grammar lessons that are more enjoyable to students and make learning grammar less daunting task for them.
