Unit 19 discussed the different types of groups that could potentially be who you are teaching as a TEFL certified educator. Through the lesson, it gave suggestions, tips, and things to look out for in teaching these special groups. The groups that were addressed were, the absolute beginner, who has no english experience at all. The false beginner, who has been exposed to English but has not retained the language. The adult beginning, who has often made their own decision to learn english, and tends to be highly motivated. The young beginner, who typically lacks motivation, but can pick up on language a lot easier than adults. Through this lesson techniques were given alongside advice on how to approach each group.
