This unit review the four past tenses: the past simple, the past perfect, the past continuous, and the past perfect continuous. After explaining their construction the unit reviewed in which context each tense is used. The past simple is most often used to describe actions that are completed in the past. The past continuous is used for actions that were in progress in the past or as descriptions. The past perfect is used to describe events that happened "in the past of the past" and the past perfect continuous is used to describe actions that were began in the past and have no indication of their being finished.
