Evaluation and testing of the students. Different ways can be used to assess student’s language level. Here are same way in brief; tutorial, evaluation by the students, and tests.
The tests can be done internally by the school such as homework, half-year exam, end-of –year exam. And may get involved in the testing for external exam.
There are different types of test. There is placement test which is used to place the students in a particular level of class. All the four common skills are tested, and they tend to be progressive. The second type of test is diagnostic test, which give us information about the student’s current strengths and weaknesses. It tells us about their natural ability and allows us to focus planning on gaps. The next one is progress test. Again all the four skills are tested and required by the school or parents to indicate that learning is taking place, and it has different time frames. Then there is practice test, which is usually used for revision purposes and should follow the style and content of the real exam.
The second category of the tests is the external proficiency tests. they are general English, business English, and academic English.
