This unit focused on teaching language productive skills: speaking and writing. There was a great deal of discussion in the different techniques of teaching fluency versus accuracy in speaking skills. Writing skills focused on a discussion of handwriting spelling punctuation and creative writing.
I found the discussion of different techniques used for fluency versus accuracy to be interesting and thought-provoking. While both are certainly needed i thought of my potential students. Since I plan to be teaching Young Learners I expect to be most focused on fluency. It seems that the reigning school of thought is that accuracy can be added after fluency. I'll be interested in trying some of these techniques in the classroom.
