As a teacher, we all know how important it is to have different approaches of teaching to ring the changes. And this is what the unit is about. Methodologies and techniques. The unit provides about nine different methodologies: the first one is grammar- translation which focuses on finding equivalents in the students’ own first language. The second one is audio- lingualism which concentrates more on long repetition drills. The third one is the PPP presentation, practice and production. This one requires first a teacher’s explanation then the students get to practice. After that the go to the production stage. The fourth one is task- based learning where the students are given a task to complete. The fifth is CLT communicative language teaching which gives more value to the language functions rather that grammar and vocabulary. The sixth is CLL community language learning, in which the student can get to sit in circle and are given the chance to decide what to talk about. The seventh is the silent way, in which the students try to discover the language by themselves and the teacher gets to be silent. The eighth is suggestopeadia . it focuses on the need for the student to be comfortable and confident. The number nine which is the last one. The lexical approach which argues that words and phrases are the better basic things that can be put together to acquire the language. And then there is a final methodology which is called ESA means engage study activate. And that means this methodology has three different phases. The engage phase, the study phase, and then the activate phase. I understood from this that to be a good teacher, you have to have different ways of teaching and know how to use them and when.
