Authentic materials such as newspapers, menus, videos and songs are real life ways of keeping students motivated and interested in the lessons. Created materials such as crossword puzzles, role play cards and picture stories are good ways for teachers to supplement course work or text book lessons to enhance learning. Course books are helpful because they contain a syllabus to keep the teacher and students on track in a manner that allows the students to build on their learning. However, a course book should not be the only means of teaching because this may cause the students to get bored and lose motivation.
