Teachers use many different teaching aids to make their classes more interesting, effective, and less dependent on textbooks. The followings are some of the teaching aids a teacher can use.
The board. It can be used for different things such as, writing, drawing, and so on. It’s really important for the teacher to plan and organize the board work earlier. The teacher should start with a clean board, should write neatly and legibly, should divide the board into parts, just have the essential information on the board and erase them when they are no longer needed.
Interactive whiteboard. This aid also provides support but teachers should bear in mind that electronics can cause an embarrassing moment so they should have a backup plan, and try to know how it works.
Overhead projector is helpful for showing things or as an alternative to the board. It has pros and cons; it focuses students attention, helps the teacher to avoid having his back to the students while board work, classroom needs surface that is not bleached out by the direct sunlight, and the can be complicated.
