Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit has taught me a great deal in many areas of being a teacher from learning the influence of the students’ composition, properly instituting the instructor’s roles in the classroom, identifying the good learners, effectively motivating students’ learning based on their multifactorial backgrounds and furthermore, knowing how to be a good teacher in students’ eyes. 1)Students’ composition such as age will largely differ instructor’s approaches in the classroom. Younger age group’s learning tends to be more visual, needs higher level of classroom management and less complexity of in-class activities. Higher age group of learners such as adults are more self motivated and possess self disciplinary skills. Their learning does not need high intensity of classroom management. They tend to have high enthusiasm to ask questions, collaborate with their instructor and are more willing to accept critiques and take the responsibility in achieving their success. It is easier for instructor to build rapport and have interesting discussions with adult learners. 2)It is so important for an instructor to be clear on his /her roles in the classroom. As stated above, different age groups require different level of classroom management scheme or strategy. Chaotic classroom atmosphere will not lead to an effective learning and maintain a good degree of enthusiasm in students for further learning. An instructor should be able to well control or organize the classroom, yet in a pleasant manor. She/he should be a participant as if he/she were a student positioning her-/himself among the students in doing projects together with them. An instructor should also be a good resource to facilitate students’ learning and a prompt assessor to give students feedbacks. 3)Identifying good learners among the students and effectively motivating every student at a customized fashion is as critical as properly creating a good learning environment in the classroom. The Instructor can pair good learners with other academically weak members to improve the outcome of learning as a whole and bring the motivation in those who have academic weakness to the same level or near of the advanced members in the class. 4)An instructor should not neglect students’ cultures but only well acknowledge them. The culture can either promote learning or hurdle the learning if it is not properly recognized and considered as factors which would likely impact the learning. It should be promptly modulated and incorporated by the instructor to enhance the learning rather than being left as a barrier to restrict the learning. 5)A good rapport between the instructor and the students oftentimes is a leading element before any other factors to impact the quality of instruction. A good relationship on the education ground will lead a good connection between teaching and learning, reduce the intensity of stress in an instructor and learners and build a trust and solid confidence in the students. Above are just a few points of what I learnt from this unit. They are valuable elements that I believe will benefit my future teaching. I trust that these spirits are not only very useful to the teaching of the English subject, but also other topics of instruction.
