There are lots of methodologies and techniques in EFL lesson, however not all of them are appropriate to use in each lesson as some of them can be used for certain level of student. Consequently, some of them has their own downsides, so there is a better approach for conducting an EFL lesson which is Engage, Study and Activate, put by Jeremy Harmer. This methodology says that the first thing is should be done in each classroom is to engage student. In other word to conduct a worm up activity. After, there comes a Study stage where the students are exposured by new lesson. Additionally, when the new language is clear there comes an exercises. Finally, the Activate stage is going to come where student literally activate or use the language that they learned in the previous stage. There are many ideas for each stage, but a teacher should bear in mind that not every activity or idea is appropriate for the student because the activities for different level students, or perhaps the activity should be made more simple. For example, game Seven can contain more words for higher level and fewer for starter or intermediate. One of the main points of teaching language is to give a feedback. Feedback shouldn’t be straight forward but it should somehow encourage student as it should be given in a positive way. It is very crucial to differentiate between error and mistake. Mistake is when a student knows something but somehow says or writes another thing, which can be made correct himself or herself. On the other hand, error is the misunderstanding of a learner which should be wiped out by whether another student or teacher.
