This unit discussed the techniques and models that can be used in the classroom. The lesson began by describing the various models of English as a second language teaching that have existed in history, highlighting both the pros and cons of each. The lesson then leads us to the Engage-Study-Activate model which the main focus of the unit. We learn that during the engage phase, we want students to be vocal and present, thus this phase often involves games and discussions. The next phase-study- involves a more focused review and study of the topic at hand-- this time is when the students are able to practice, and learn. The next phase is the activate phase which involves having the students use what they have learned with each other. Finally, the unit describes how and when a teacher can appropriately correct the mistakes and errors of students.
