This unit taught me the broken down parts of receptive skills that need to be focused on when teaching English to beginners. It was helpful to discover the many different components of reading and listening that are found throughout our brains. Prior to this unit, I was unaware that listening and reading consisted of many different types and motivations. Once I was able to grasp this, the unit provided examples of ways in which a teacher can adhere to each type of reading or listening. This was helpful for me, especially as I begin to think of receptive skills lesson plans that I would like to teach in the future.
