Unit 2 focused on parts of speech, listing and breaking down the categories of noun, adjective, article, verb, adverb, gerund, pronoun, preposition, and conjunction. This unit was helpful in refreshing my understanding of each term and its application, and also provided examples and notes that could be helpful in preparing how to present these speech elements to someone encountering something like a gerund for the first time. The unit states that, while a teacher is not required to have a perfect knowledge of all aspects of English grammar, consistency and a solid fundamental knowledge of grammatical constructions are vital.
