This unit outlines the four past tenses: past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. The tenses are similar to the four present tenses, but are in the past. Past simple and past continuous are widely taught and used in English, while past perfect perfect continuous is not widely taught or used. I liked the detective activity for past continuous and the specific usage descriptions for each of the tenses. For example, the past continuous is almost never used without identifying a time. I also liked the backward story idea for past perfect. It is also interesting to see how different languages have different tenses and names for tenses.
