Classroom Management - organising and managing the class. The unit focuses on how teachers can use their eyes, gestures and voice in order to convey messages, on how students should be grouped, on classroom arrangement (orderly rows, circles and horseshoes, separate tables). The unit also presents ways in which the teacher can reduce his/her time with his/her back to the class, it talks about giving individual attention, about teacher talking time and student talking time. Establishing rapport is also an important part of this unit, the rapport between the teacher and the students (and between the students themselves), because this rapport plays an important role whether a class is enjoyable and successful or not. As far as the most important message of this unit is concerned, I have learnt that A TEACHER must INSPIRE CONFIDENCE in the students, that a teacher must be flexible and adapt or change his/her role according to the activity and situation in which he/she is, and that a teacher should never be dominant or leave the students uncertain. I, as a teacher, always encourage my students by saying to them: "Yes, you can!", meaning that they can talk in English.
