This Unit was about coursebooks and different lessons materials.
I discovered the advantages and disadvantages of authentic and created materials.
Advantages of authentic materials - the first one is that it can boost the confidence of students if they are able to understand it; it prepares the students for the real world.
Created materials` advantages are: it is Student-focused; it can be graded to the level of students; the teacher can easily choose which vocabulary or language items to include in the material.
Also, there was information about the course book and some tips on how to use and select it: don’t think of the course book as a solution to everything; supplement the book with other materials, authentic or created, to provide an opportunity for extended language practice; replace unsuitable materials with similar and more appropriate ones.
