I have learned that a good teacher should have a balanced variety of characteristics that motivate and facilitate learning. The teacher can assume a number of different roles to help the students learn. Some require more or less control over students, giving gentle advice or help, or being a good leader and model. It is important to know when and which role to choose to maximize the effectiveness of its purpose. Choosing a good role will also depend on your desired outcome and the types of activities you want to use. Learning is not only possible because of good teachers but students as well. Students can posses a number of traits that can help both parties effectively achieve the goal of learning such as willingness to participate, experiment, and ability to accept mistakes. Different age groups and skill levels will require different types of attention and tactics to help, motivate and inspire leaners. The motivation for learning English can vary from person to person but almost all of them open a door for new and exciting possibilities that lead to happier and brighter futures.
