This is the last grammar unit in this course and it gives an overview of modal verbs and their importance in English communication. Modal verbs include can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, would, must, have to, etc. They are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb. They can express obligation, probability and advice, among others. Finally, this unit also touches on phrasal verbs, or multi-word verbs that include one or two particles, passive and active voice, and the three types of relative clauses in English. Prior to reading this unit, I actually was not familiar with the subcategories of phrasal verbs, such as transitive separable or the subcategories of relative clauses, defining and non-defining. Therefore, I not only got to review important English grammar concepts, but also learn new ones that I was not aware of. Although, this unit is the last one in this course to cover grammar, it reminds me that even as a native speaker, there are many intricate grammar points that I still do not know and brushing up on the rules and logic of English grammar is always imperative.
