Understanding the motivations of ESL/EFL learners such as further career plans, traveling, interest in the language, and other future prospects will enable me to tailor lessons to the desires of students. For example, if many students wish to attend college and college entrance exams require a level of English fluency, it is important that I tailor lesson plans to mirror the content of entrance exams to better suit my students' motives.
