The unit covered all parts of speech (noun, adjective, article, adverb, verb, gerund, pronoun, preposition and conjuction) and the basic rules that govern them. This was mostly review for me, but there were certainly things that I learned. I learned more of the intricacies of the placement of adverbs (ex. after object of a transitive verb) and also the order for multiple adjectives (place -> manner -> time). Similarly I learned the standard order of adjectives (size -> age -> color -> material). I would be interested in doing an activity with poetry that might break some of these basic rules, but allow the students to question why the poet chose to break the rules. Perhaps they could also write some short poems as well. I also appreciated the suggestions for activities like the charades with adverbs.
