In this unit we learned about the receptive skills: reading and listening. As a previous language student myself, I can recall the difficulty that can exists in attempting to comprehend texts and dialogues. As the unit describes there is an inclination to attempt to understand every word in a text or dialogue, and when we are unable to do so, we can get very discouraged. Thus, as recommended, I will try to emphasize that it is not necessary to understand every word the first times we read or listen to something. The unit also discussed various problems that exist when teaching receptive skills and gave important tips in order to advance past these challenges.
