The two videos demonstrate two different types of teaching which lead to the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the lessons.
Lesson one is ineffective because the students are confusing, intimidated and unmotivated to learn. It is also lack of teacher - student, student - student interaction and student talking opportunities. Additionally, the teacher does not care much about students' learning as he does not learn about students' individual pronunciation. Moreover, there is no clear instruction given by the teacher, which mades the students being confused and bored.
It is clearly that lesson two is more effective because the teacher can build a good rapport with the students at the beginning, the students are participated during the lesson and able to use the language point at the end of the lesson. His voice, gestures and eye contact are appropriate to keep the students get involved and pay attention to the lesson. In addition, he is well prepared and skillful with the ESA techniques such as realia, gap-fill, grouping students and ideas for ESA phases; which helps the lesson more lively and interesting to the students.
There may be different methods of teaching, but I personally feel that the techniques taught in these TEFL course are useful in order to deliver a successful and effective lesson to our students.
